Picaflor Live-Culture, a Boulder, Colorado based fermented hot sauce brand, is honored to announce they’ve been chosen as this year’s Pitch Slam Winner by Naturally Boulder, a dynamic network of natural product and organic food companies that has been a resource leader in Boulder’s food & CPG industry since 2005. The pitch competition took place on October 18-19th, with 20 up-and-coming companies participating in a two-minute pitch followed by a three-minute Q+A, all competing to be in the the top three to win business resources and prizes valued at $100,000.
The origins of Picaflor Live-Culture begin on McCauley Family Farm, a 40 acre regenerative organic farm in Longmont, Colorado, where Marcus McCauley, Farmer and Founder, grows unique pepper varieties in addition to other produce and pasture-raised chicken. McCauley collaborates with like-minded neighboring farms. Central to their program of work is holistic land management and regenerative agricultural practices. An emerging leader in the movement, they utilize carbon farming methodologies to increase the biodiversity, enrich the soil, improve watersheds, and enhance the local ecosystem.
McCauley and his team are thrilled to have won and be among the best new and innovative brands in the Natural Products industry, “Picaflor Live-Culture is uniquely situated in the regenerative farming movement, the mega-trend of fermented foods, and the hot sauce boom. Picaflor’s products include 3 SKUs of raw, fermented hot sauces and 4 SKUs of fermented pepper flakes. The products contain only whole food-based Certified Organic ingredients grown on Colorado farms and irrigated by Rocky Mountain snowmelt. Picaflor Live-Culture is currently sold at 150+ natural grocery stores and organic markets in 12 states with more in the pipeline.
